Update 9/18/08 5:00pm - Houston Campus: Power and telephone service have been restored. Magnolia Campus: No utility power. Telephone service has been restored. Jasper Campus: Power and telephone service have been restored.
Update 9/16/08 7:30am - Houston Campus: No utility power, no telephones. A crew was sent from San Antonio to begin cleanup of the campus. The rest of the faculty and students remain in San Antonio. Magnolia Campus: No utility power. Telephone service has been restored. Currently operating on generator power. Jasper Campus: No utility power. Currently operating on generator power.
Update 9/15/08 7:30am - The Houston, Magnolia, and Jasper campuses are all without electricity. Generators for Magnolia and Jasper are in place to keep freezers and communications systems running. The Magnolia campus staff and students are helping with recovery efforts in the surrounding neighborhoods by clearing debris and helping with repairs. The Houston Campus in the Channelview area of Houston also is without power and will remain vacated for the time being. Though the Jasper campus did not sustain hurricane force winds, the electrical service has been interrupted. We appreciate your continued prayers.
Update 9/13/08 6:30pm - The Houston Campus property will be assessed for damage. The buildings appear to be unharmed, but the perimeter fence and signage have been destroyed. The area is currently without power. Both the Houston and Magnolia campuses do not have electrical utilities, however we are trying to locate suitable generators. If you can help, please contact us! The students and faculty from the Houston Campus are safe in San Antonio. The Magnolia Campus was not evacuated and sustained no damage, however there is no power or water at this time. We need your continued prayers as we fully assess the damage from Hurricane Ike.
If you would like to send an email message to your loved one who has evacuated from the Houston Campus, we have set up a temporary email address at ike@tctexas.org. Please include the full name of the student in your email, which will be given to the Program Director of the Houston Campus for distribution.
Update 9/12/08 2:20pm - Students and faculty from the Houston Campus are safe in San Antonio.
Update 9/10/08 - The students and faculty at the Houston Campus are now being evacuated to the San Antonio facility. In addition, the Teen Challenge Houston presence at the Barlow Girl concert has been tentatively rescheduled for October 27. We will continue to monitor the storm and make changes to our evacuation plans as necessary. Updated information will be posted to this page when available.
Update 9/10/08 - Due to changes in the projected path of Hurricane Ike, evacuation of the Coastal Bend Family Campus has been canceled at this time.
